IFR Diversion with
Engine Flameout

The crew departs HKMO en route to HKJK at FL100 on an IFR flight plan. Before reaching Nairobi, ATC advises the ILS is unserviceable — crew proceed for the NV VOR DME approach Runway 06. Maintaining MDA at the MAP, deteriorating weather forces a go-around.

Crew execute the missed approach and divert toward an alternate — Orly (HKIK), Magadi (HKMG), or Kilimanjaro (HTKJ) — complicated by low fuel state. En route, the engine flames out just before top-of-descent. The crew must manage throttle cut, ignition timing, and NTS response, then handle a failed relight. Full emergency procedures and crew decision-making are assessed throughout the exercise.

No licence is required for general familiarisation sessions and our STEM Junior Camp programs. However, sessions that count toward EASA or KCAA regulatory credit (PPL, IR, CPL, MCC) require a valid student or pilot licence and an approved training contract with Think Aviation.
The minimum booking is 1 hour per session. Pricing includes instructor time, pre-brief, and post-session debrief. Longer blocks and bulk packages are available for airline operators and training schools — contact us directly for group rates.
Yes. Think Aviation is KCAA Standards Training Organisation (ATO No. 22). All three simulators are developed and qualified under EASA CS-FSTD(A) and ICAO Doc 9625 frameworks, and hours are fully creditable toward PPL, CPL, SE-IR, MCC, and type rating training under KCAA and regional authority rules.
For single-engine IR, the Cessna 172S (EASA FNPT level-II) is the most cost-effective choice, offering up to 35–40 hours of creditable IR training. For turboprop IR or SET class rating, the C208B FTD-2 provides the highest fidelity for those transitioning to the Caravan type. Commercial pilots on the Dornier 228 type should use the DO228 FTD-2.
This is a mandatory ground orientation for all first-time clients. It covers simulator equipment handling, safety procedures, emergency egress, cockpit orientation, and the differences between simulator and real aircraft behaviour. It is conducted before your first paid session and takes approximately 30 minutes max.
Absolutely. The Jeppesen African database covers the full East and Central African airspace. You can fly real routes including Wilson–Masai Mara, Nairobi–Mombasa, Wilson–Kilimanjaro, Nairobi–Entebbe, and more — including custom scenarios with local weather phenomena and unpaved bush strip approaches.
Our highly experienced team, will be operating the Instructor Operating Station (IOS) and offering dedicated training support to resolve any technical issues and ensure a smooth simulation experience.
For KCAA license credit or renewal, you must be accompanied by a KCAA Certified Flight Instructor. Private pilots may use the simulator for self-guided proficiency after completing our mandatory Sim Usage orientation.
Yes! Aspiring junior aviators aged 7 and above are welcome. We require a minimum of 2-hour sessions on our Cessna 172S (or Cessna 208B in special cases) to provide a meaningful educational experience.
All users must follow our strict professional guidelines:

  • Follow a disciplined lesson format with minimal pausing/repositioning.
